CheckIT Learning Appoints Dr. Joseph Fatheree to Steer its Strategic Projects

Dr. Joseph Fatheree Joins CheckIT Learning

June 30, White Bear Lake, MN - CheckIT Learning, a global edtech startup providing neuroscience-based classroom tools, announced today that Dr. Joseph Fatheree has joined its team as Director of Strategic Projects. Bringing decades of classroom experience and a background in AI research, Dr. Fatheree will help spearhead CheckIT Learning’s educational AI initiatives to drive responsible innovation, groundbreaking impact, and global adoption.

As an award-winning educator (Top 10 Finalist 2016 Global Teacher Prize, NEA National Award for Teaching Excellence 2009, and Illinois State Teacher of the Year 2007) holding an Ed.D., with a focus on understanding how synthetic relationships between humans and AI social robots impact users, Dr. Fatheree is uniquely positioned to oversee CheckIT Learning’s efforts to transform education with neuroscience and AI. His firsthand experience with the challenges in modern education provides a strong foundation for addressing emerging needs of learners, teachers, and administrators. Furthermore, Dr. Fatheree's work in artificial intelligence, which includes collaborations with the Institute for Ethical AI in Education in the United Kingdom, software developers, and academic researchers, will help shape the future roadmap for Cleo, CheckIT Learning’s neuroscience-based LMS software.

More recently, he was one of only 100 global experts invited by HP Computers and T4 Education to develop a global AI policy framework intended to guide governments, educational systems, and organizations in the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence. This extensive expertise perfectly aligns with CheckIT Learning’s commitment to the ethical use of AI in education and its ambition to impact communities far beyond individual classrooms.

“As someone who has spent decades working at the intersection of education, ethics, and artificial intelligence, I believe CheckIT Learning is addressing one of the most important challenges facing education today: ensuring that AI is developed responsibly, ethically, and in ways that genuinely improve learning for every individual,” says Dr. Joseph Fatheree, Director of Strategic Projects at CheckIT Learning.  “I am proud to support their efforts and look forward to seeing the positive impact our work will have on learners, educators, and educational systems around the world.”

Dr. Fatheree’s doctoral research at the University of Illinois provides an invaluable perspective for designing AI tools tailored to real-world use cases. His research examines how trust, engagement, and human-AI interaction influence learning experiences, which are the aspects integral to CheckIT Learning’s software design and development process.

As a company committed to bringing responsible innovation to education, CheckIT Learning relies on expert insights to deliver secure and effective learning tools. Its neuroscience-based LMS platform powered by AI is developed in collaboration with seasoned professionals across education, technology, neuroscience, AI, instructional design, and other key areas to ensure safe, healthy and measurable impact. Its AI model is not a simple add-on, but a comprehensive engine delivering insights that tailor learning to the unique needs of every student. Developed in accordance with the highest industry standards, the model leverages frameworks supporting bias elimination, educator agency, and data safety.

“CheckIT Learning’s potential to address the crisis of meaning in education through human-centered technologies inspired Dr. Fatheree to join our global team and explore what we can accomplish together,” says Myriam Da Silva, CEO of CheckIT Learning. “His impressive background will help set a course for our global growth while continuing to ground our work in science, which has always been one of our core differentiators. I believe this new set of strengths will help us identify subtle, emerging challenges in education and turn them into opportunities for improvement. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Fatheree and see what is next for our platform.”
